Dear Parachute/Battlement Mesa Park and Rec.,
The plans have been reviewed to the currently adopted codes in Garfield County. lf an item is
missed during review, it is the applicant's obligation to comply with all adopted codes in Garfield
County. Below is a list of conditions to be addressed during construction. Theré is no response
needed, compliance will be required during field inspections. Documentation is to be provided
during construction, if needed. Please contact me if clarification is required.

The approved plans are to be on-site for inspections.
Sanitary facilities are required to be provided for workers.
A list of required inspections will be attached to the plans. The State is to permit and
approve the electrical work.

Underground utility locates is the responsibility of the owner or contractor. 811 is the

All backflow preventers are required to be tested and certified by a licensed backflow
specialist after installation and prior to issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy.
Electrical Code compliance will be determined based on field inspectione performed by the
State Electrical lnspector, (303) 869-3458. Please have the inspector sign the building card
or provide written documentation of the inspections.
The Electrical Code requires a separate Electrical Permit for low voltage fire alarms that has
an alarm panel and send a notification to the Fire District when under alarm. A Rough-ln
inspection with the State Electrical lnspector is required (303) 869-3458. Please have the
inspector sign the building card or provide written documentation of the inspection.
Geotechnical observation is required when the excavation is complete and written
verification be supplied at footing inspection, 1500psf.
Safety glazing is not designated on the plans. Safety glazing will be checked during the
framing and final inspection. (lBC 2406.4)
Any membrane and through penetrations of the fire resistive construction will be required to
be fire-stopped with listed fire stopping assemblies. The contractor is to provide a cut sheet
for the assemblies at the framing inspection. (lBC 713)
All accessible door hardware shall have a shape that is easy to grip, including pocket and
sliding doors. (ANSI A117.1 - 404.2.6)
All food service facilities are to be licensed and approved by Garfield County Environmental
Health Department. Provide appropriate approval prior to serving the public.
The Structural Engineer stated in the general notes #8 that a site inspection is required by
their office prior to the Building Department approval of the framing. Please provide that
letter prior or at the framing inspection.
The mechanical engineer is specifying cast-iron drain waste and vent for above and below
ground installation. Any change in material is to be approved by the engineer of record.
Non-combustible framing is to be utilized behind the hood. Typically, a furred steel stud wall
with mineral wool insulation is framed over the wood wall for compliance.
The grease fan is to be hinged to provide access for cleaning. Maintenance note: Grease
accumulation of 1/8" is acceptable, any more accumulation, the hood and ductwork is to be
cleaned.
Commercial kitchen exhausts require very specific inspections. Please have the mechanical
contractor contact me personally to perform the inspection with him/her.o Weld lnspection, the contractor is to provide a halogen or 1O0-watt light. Allwelds
are to be checked with the light to verify there are no leaks. lf lapped joints are used,
a smoke test will be required. Cleanout locations will be verified at that time.. Fire-wrap lnspection, manufacturer's instructions are to be on-site. Typically, it's a 2-
layer system. Cleanout accesses are to be fire-rated per the fire wrap manufacturer.. Hood Final, the hood is complete and is put under test. The hood is to automatically
turn on when heat is sensed. The hood fire suppression professional will replace the
fire-extinguishing tank with an air tank for the test. A link will be removed for the initial
test and a second test using the pull station. During the test, the make-up air, the gas

and all electrical under the hood shuts off, the hood stays on. All caps on the
sprinklers are activated.
The Capture Test, smoke or steam is to be produced under the hood to verify the
hood captures the products of combustion.
