Hello Howard,
I apologize for the confusion. I pulled your plans to see why a separate stair is being required. The
plans did not have a first-floor plan sheet or the Plans Examiner would have let you know up front
about the egress. The egress from the upper level could not be verified until a field inspection was
performed.
I will grant another extension. Please submit an addendum to your existing permit for the stairs,
attached is a form when you submit revised plans.

I need the building department to extend my permit. On my final inspection, you are now telling me
I need to add a stairway outside of my ADU on that level. That was not a requirement on my drawing
that was approved by the building department when my plan was reviewed, approved and issued.
We will be building an outside deck with stairs sometime in 2024.
