At the time of our site visits, the contractor had installed the new sewer line and cleanout, a 1,000-gallon two-compartment concrete septic tank with a high-head pump in the second compartment of the tank, the new pump line, the new automatic distributing valve (ADV), and the existing mound STA modified to account for the additional loading. The existing sewer line, septic tank, and effluent line for the main residence remained and now feed into the new septic tank. The septic tank and ADV were installed level with access brought to grade. The ADV was set at the high point of the system. The STA consists of a mounded sand filter measuring 20 feet by 18 feet. The four distribution laterals had 5/32-inch diameter orifices facing down with orifice shields. Orifices were drilled along the laterals at a spacing of 3-feet on center. The distribution laterals were placed in GeoMat distribution media placed directly on the sand and ended in a 90-degree bend with a flushing valve. Inspection ports were installed at each corner of the mound. We received a final observation letter and as-built drawing from the OWTS designer dated January 30, 2024, which indicated the system was generally installed according to specifications and included the pump start-up letter for the system. In our opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS Regulations. No further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this permit. Thank you, Edward R. “Ted” White, P.E.
