The findings of cur observations and recommendations for the foundation design are presented in this report. We previously conductecl a subsoil study for design of foundations at the site, report dated Octalrer lg,202l,Prnject No. 21-?-?61 arrd abserved the basement exsavation, report dated July 25, ?0?3, Project No. 2l-7-?61.A. We observed the garage excavations as described in aur letter dated MaY 15,2il24. At tbe time of our most recent visit to the site, the concrete basement fbotings and fcrundation walls were in place and conditions were sirniiar to those previously reported. The foatings for the connecting foundation between the two units had been forrned and rebar was in place. We understand that concrets will be placed for these footings on Friday, August ?"d. The soils exposed in the foundatian excavalion for these footings consisted of relatively dense, slightiy silty sand and gravel with cobbles. No fi"ee water was encountered in the excavation and the soils were slightly rncist. Scrne waterproofing anri backfilling ofbaseinent walls has ocsurred between the two units' The gravel soils exposed in the excavation are consistent with those previously encountsrsd on the site. Fr:undatians placed on the gravel soils should be suitable for support of spread fbotings designed for the recommenclsd allowable bearing pressure of 3,000 psf. Loose and disturbsd soils shoulel be removed in the faoting areas tc expose the undistruted natural gravel sr:ils. Other r-ecommendations presented in our previous report which are applicable should also be observed. The recommendations submitted in this letter are bassd oR our ol'rservation of the soils exposed within the foundatian excavation and the previous subsurface exploration at the site. Variatinrrs in the subsurface conditions below the excavation could increase the risk of *:undation movement. We shouid be advised of any variations encountered in the excavation conditions for possible changes to resommendations contained in this ietter.
