OWTS Permit #s: SEPT-5207, SEPT-6553, and SEPT-6589

GCPH was not called to perform a final inspection of the OWTS that serves the properties
known as Lots 5 and 6 of McClure River Ranch Zone District 1 or the Maintenance Barn for
Zone District 1 along Chukka Trail near Carbondale in Garfield County, Colorado, associated
with OWTS Permit #s SEPT-5207, SEPT-6553, and SEPT-6589. The system was designed by
Roaring Fork Engineering and components were installed by Divide Creek Builders. We
received an as-built drawing of the constructed system (as surveyed by True North Colorado)
from the property owner’s representative, Land West Land Planning and Development on July 7,
2025. The report also contained multiple photographs of the OWTS installation. Garfield County
Public Health (GCPH) staff visited the site with the property owner’s representative to observe
the installed OWTS components and to gain a better understanding of the site on June 20, 2025.
Our observations during the site visit did not indicate obvious signs of system failure. At the time
of our site visit, only the building on Lot 5 (a barn and pavilion) had been constructed. Lot 6 and
the site of the Maintenance Barn did not have buildings on them. We did not receive a final
certification letter from the OWTS designer.
The survey and photographs in the report that we reviewed show a cleanout adjacent to the barn
on Lot 5, the sewer line to a concrete manhole with three inlets (already plumbed) and one outlet,
one concrete 2,000-gallon single-compartment septic tank followed by one concrete 2,000-gallon
two-compartment septic tank with a high-head pump in the second compartment of the second
tank, the pump line, the automatic distribution valve at the high-point of the OWTS, and the
1,440 ft2 Soil Treatment Area (STA). The manhole, septic tanks, and automatic distribution
valve appeared to be installed level with access brought to grade. The septic tanks utilized for
this project are on the accepted septic tank list published by the Colorado Department of Public
Health and Environment based upon information provided to GCPH. The STA consisted of one

four row gravelless chamber bed placed on 24-inches of secondary sand media (mounded 1-foot
above grade) with each trench consisting of 30 Quick4 chambers (120 total chambers).
Additionally, inspection ports were present at each corner of the bed and the distribution laterals
ended in flushing assemblies.
As required by Garfield County OWTS Regulations Section 43.4.F.3, based on our final
inspection observations, this OWTS was installed according to the permit requirements and
regulations.
