On August 13, 2025, we visited the site of the building under construction at 279 Mohawk Drive near Silt
in Garfield County, Colorado to observe the OWTS installation pursuant to OWTS Permit # SEPT-9184.
The system was designed by Huddleston-Berry Engineering and Testing, LLC and installed by the
property owner (Chip Sutherland). We received an as-built drawing of the constructed system and a letter
certifying that the system was constructed in compliance with the permitted design from the OWTS
designer dated August 29, 2025.
During our inspections, we observed the new sewer line and cleanout adjacent to the building, the new
concrete 1,000-gallon two-compartment septic tank with an effluent filter in the outlet tee of the second
compartment of the tank, the new effluent line, and the serial distribution Soil Treatment Area (STA). The
septic tank was installed level with access brought to grade. The STA consisted of four gravelless
chamber trenches with 3 trenches of 8 ARC 36 chambers and one trench of 6 ARC 36 chambers (30 total
chambers, 450 ft2 total STA). Additionally, inspection ports were present at the distal end of each trench.
As required by Garfield County OWTS Regulation Section 43.4.F.3, based on our final inspection
observations, this OWTS was installed according to the permit requirements and regulations.
