Replacement septic system. PROPERTY DESCRIPTION AS IT PERTAINS TO THE SEPTIC SYSTEM This property has 2 buildings, a 3 bedroom house and a shop building. The proposed septic tank and soil treatment area will be based on the 3 bedroom house. The property currently has an existing 1000 gallon septic which will be crushed in place and filled with native material or removed completely. The existing soil treatment area (STA) will be abandoned. The proposed STA area will be in a field East of the current house and South of the shop building. The proposed STA is currently covered with naturally occurring grasses. The proposed STA has a slight slope away to the S. TEST PITS AND SOIL ANALYSIS The test pits were excavated on March 13th 2026. 2 test pits were excavated near the proposed STA, and an evaluation was performed by Tim Copeland, who holds a Certificate of Completion from the CPOW Visual and Tactile Evaluation of Soils Training. 1 2 Test pit #1. 0”-8” dark, sandy loam top soil, granular moderate; USDA type 2 8”-42” light brown, sandy clay loam, prismatic moderate; USDA type 3 42”-50” grey, ¾” to 2” rocks, USDA type R 50”-96” light brown, sandy clay loam, prismatic moderate; USDA type3 Test pit #2. 0”-12” dark sandy loam top soil, granular moderate; USDA type 2 12”- 72” light brown, sandy clay loam, prismatic moderate; USDA type 3 72” - 84” grey, ¾” to 2” rocks, USDA type R 84”-96” light brown, sandy clay loam, prismatic moderate; USDA type 3 The STA will be placed in the vicinity of soil evaluation of test pit #2 to avoid the shallow R-type soils located near trench test pit #1. The infiltrative surface will be placed at a maximum depth of 36” to provide the required 36” vertical separation from pressurized distribution to the limiting layer. Soil type 3/LTAR will be used in sizing calculations Design calculations 3 bedrooms total: 150 gallons per day for all 3 bedrooms. 450 gal per day and a native soil type of 3 , LTAR =0.35 450 gal. per day / 0.35 gal. per day per SF =1286 SF Adjustment factors 1286 SF * 0.8 pressure dose trenches * 0.7 chambers =721 SF 721 SF / 12 SF per unit = 61 units minimum or 244 ft of trench (round up units to 64 units make each line equal length). 4 trenches with 16 Infiltrator per trench. 3 System Components 1000 gallon 2 compartment septic tank Infiltrator Model #IM-1060 or equal 500 gallon single compartment tank Infiltrator Model #IM-540 or equal STA chambers Standard quick 4 infiltrator or equal Orenco PVC riser and 24” Poly lid 4” SDR 35 sewer pipe from house to the septic tank and between tanks 2” sch 40 pipe from pump to STA and manifold 20.0 gal. of storage in pressure main min. 1% drainback or bury 36” min. BGS to prevent freezing. 1.25” sch 40 laterals w/ 5/32” orifices spaced 36” o.c. hung inside of infiltrator Orenco pump package with Orenco pump PF5005 HH effluent pump package 113 gal. dose volume, 4 doses/day at max. usage. (lateral lines 93 gal plus flow back 20 gal) Total Dynamic Head = 20.6’ Design Flow Rate 57.7 gal/min. 4” SCH 40 sewer pipe Effluent Filter Orenco 4” diameter, full size filter Installation There will be a double sweep tee cleanout near the house and 2% min. grade to the septic tank. Full size Orenco effluent filter installed in the outlet side of the 1000 gallon septic tank. The Orenco pump package will be installed in the 500 gal single compartment tank. Risers will be used to bring all lid openings to grade. Install pump into pump tank including a weep hole for drainage and prevent siphon. 2’ schedule 40 pipe shall be run from the pump to the manifold and STA. 1.25 ” sch 40 pipe with 5/32” holes drilled up at 3’ on center shall be installed in the infiltrators and hung with zip ties. At the beginning and end of each lateral, orifices shall be drilled facing down. A flushing valve assembly will be at the end of each run. A 4 separate inspection port will be installed at the beginning and end of each run. The STA will consist of 4 runs. Each run will have 16 infiltrator and each trench will be separated by 4’ minimum of undisturbed soil. The trench shall be a maximum of 36” deep to provide the 36” of vertical separation from a pressurized distribution to the limiting layer. Cover shall consist of 1’ min. of soil on top that is capable of supporting local vegetation. The system should not have the water softener discharge into the OWTS. The property owner is responsible for having the tanks maintained (pumped and filters cleaned (ideally the filters should be cleaned annually) ). Vehicles and heavy equipment shall not be driven over or parked on the leach field. High and low level alarms will have visual and audio notifications. 5 Installation Observation Request Reliable Septic Solutions must view and accept the OWTS components after they are installed but before they are backfilled.
