COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION AS IT PERTAINS TO THE SEPTIC SYSTEM
The property has a well North of the house over 100 feet from the septic tank
and over 150 from the Soil Treatment Area (STA). The existing 1000 gallon
septic tank (which is found to be in good condition) will be used and the
existing (STA) will be abandoned. The new (STA) will be South of the house
and abandoned (STA). If a cleanout is not already provided outside of the
building, a two-way cleanout must be installed between the building and the
septic tank.
The proposed new (STA) has a slight slope to the Southeast.
TEST PITS AND SOIL ANALYSIS
The test pits were excavated on May 11 2026. 2 test pits were excavated
near the proposed STA and an evaluation was performed by Tim Copeland,
who holds a Certificate of Completion from the CPOW Visual and Tactile
Evaluation of Soils Treating.
Test pit #1.
0" - 6" light brown clay loam top soil, prismatic moderate; USDA type 3
6" - 31" light brown silty clay loam, blocky moderate; USDA type 3
31" - 96" darker brown silty clay loam, blocky moderate; USDA type 3
Test pit #2
0' - 8" light brown clay loam top soil, prismatic moderate; USDA type 3
8" - 21" light brown red silty clay loam, granular moderate; USDA type 3
21" - 96" darker brown silty clay loam, blocky moderate; USDA type 3
Test pits were dug to a depth of 96" no bedrock or ground water were encountered.
A small trackhoe was used to excavate the test pits. The excavator was Scott Brynildson .
Design Calculations
Existing 3 bedroom home. 3 bedrooms at 150 gallons per day per bedroom.
1000 gallon tank minimum..
450 gal per day and a native soil type of 3, LTAR =0.35
450 gal. per day / 0.35 gal. per day per SF =1286 SF
Adjustment factors
1286 SF * 1.0 gravity trenches * 0.7 chambers = 901 SF
901 SF / 12 SF per unit = 75 units minimum or 300 ft of trench (round up units
to 76 units make 4 runs of 19 Infiltrator in each line equal length)
System Components
STA chambers
Standard quick 4 infiltrator or equal
4" SDR 35 sewer pipe from house to the
septic tank, distribution box and STA
4" sch 40 within 5 ft of the septic tank
4" Orenco effluent filter 44" tall in outlet side
of 1500 gallon septic tank
PVC or concrete distribution box with liquid
levelers
Polyloc 20" 6 hole distribution box or equal
Installation
There will be a double sweep tee cleanout near the house and 2% min.
grade to the septic tank. There will be a minimum of 1% grade from the
septic tank to the distribution box and a minimum 1% grade from the
distribution to the STA. The distribution box must be brought to grade
with risers. An effluent filter will be installed in the outlet of the septic
tank and risers will be used to bring all lid openings to grade.
The absorption field will consist of 4 runs. Each run will have 19
infiltrators in each trench and will be separated by 4' minimum of
undisturbed soil. Inspection ports must be installed at the beginning
and end of each trench.
The trench shall be a minimum of 24" deep and a maximum of 48"
deep. Cover shall consist of 12" min. of soil on top that is capable of
supporting local vegetation.
All required offsets as described below shall be met:

Operation and Maintenance
The residents of the property should not put grease in the sink or flush
"flushable" wipes, they will reduce the life of the system. The system
should not have the water softener discharge into the OWTS.
The property owner is responsible for having the tanks maintained
(pumped and filters cleaned (ideally the filters should be cleaned
annually) ). Vehicles and heavy equipment shall not be driven over or
parked on the STA.
Installation Observation Request
Reliable Septic Solutions must view and accept the OWTS components
after they are installed but before they are backfilled. All OWTS
construction must be in accordance with the county regulations.
Once the system is Installed but before It Is buried, it must be
inspected by Reliable Septic Solutions as well as the county. Please
give at least 48 hours notice.
Please call with any questions
