Location: The z9z acre Tract E is south of Harvey Gap Reservoir on the east side of Harvey
Gap Road (Co Rd z37). It is located in the west one-half of Section 19, Township 5 South, Range
91 West and of the east one-half of Section 24, Township 5 South, Range 91 West of the Ern
Principal Meridian, Garfield County, Colorado.
It is bounded on the north by Co Rd 237 and Farmers Irrigation Company (FICO). On the east
is Bureau of Land Management land. On the south and west are 35 acre plus lots. Slopes are
moderate to steep and covered with evergreen and cedar trees.
Site Description: Property is undeveloped and covered with native vegetation on the less than
moderate slopes with grades up to zo %. Controlled flows are released from Harvey Gap
Reservoir and flow on the subject property along the westerly portion abutting Co Rd z37 for
the majority of the property. At the south end of the Section z4, the East Lateral Farmers
Irrigation Ditch flows easterly and the Farmers Irrigation Ditch flows west to Cactus Valley.
Storm flows from the east contained in two drainage ways are further discussed under "Specific
Details" on sheet 3.

Hydrologic Criteria: Peak runoff rates for the design (zs yr) and the major (loo-yr) storms
were computed utilizing StreamStats Report (https://streamstats.usgs.gov/ssn Culverts were
designed for the zS- year flows.

Hydraulic Criteria: Culverts were designed accordingly with standard engineering practices.
Both Aluminized steel corrugated pipe and ADS High were chosen as alternative due to the
native highly corrosive soils.

18" pipes were not chosen due to additional head resulting in extra depth and grading
requirements at both inlets and outlets as well as additional outlet protection required to
mitigate increased velocities. This would also help mitigate amount of debris build-up due to
larger and deeper entry area required.
Flared End Sections are required on the inlets of both basins and recommended (and shown)
for the outlets of both basins. The outlet protection is level (both width and length wise) to act
as a spreader to reduce concentrated flows, thus erosion downstream to adjacent Harvey Cap
drainageway.
Conclusions: Storm runoff from the site should not have an adverse impact on downstream
property or the Harvey Cap drainage way. Future lot owners will need to be diligent in
removing debris from culvert inlet to avoid damage to their private drive.
