Subject: Request for a Certificate of Occupancy for residence constructed under
Garfield County building permit #2255, issued on December 3, 1981.
Dear Mr. Adams:
In response to your request for a certificate of occupancy on the above referenced
residence a research of our records indicate that no request was made for this
department to provide a final inspection. Inspector Don Owens of this department
visited the site in order to investigate the feasibility of issuing a certificate of
occupancy at this time. Several items were noted that will require correction before
a certificate of occupancy is issued for the residence. These items and corrections
required are as follows:
1. An application for a permit for the I.S.D.S. (Individual sewage disposal
system) was applied for by you, as owner, and issued by this department
under I.S.D.S. permit # 1242. However, no requests were made of this
department for a percolation test and no engineered design was submitted for
approval. In addition no inspections were requested by you, or made by this
department of whatever was installed to serve as the I.S.D.S. system for the
house. There are indications that the system currently installed is not
adequate for the three bedroom home.
Correction required:
Application is to be made for the installation of an I.S.D.S. system that will
comply with Garfield County requirements within thirty (30) days of the date
of this letter. The application is subject to approval, and installation of !he
system is required to have final inspection and approval. After approval work
on the installation of the system shall begin within sixty (60) days of
approval.
2. Some insulation in a storage closet has exposed kraal paper vapor barrier.

Correction required:
The exposed insulation shall be covered in compliance with requirements of
U.B.C. (Uniform Building Code) Section 1713. All work is required to be
completed, inspected and approved within sixty (60) days of the date of this
letter.
3. Smoke detectors do not appear to be installed at locations specified in the
code.
Correction Required:
Smoke detectors are to be installed in compliance with U.B.C. Section 1212.
All work is required to be completed within sixty (60) days of the date of this
letter.
These items will be required to be completed and approved prior to the issuance of a
certificate of occupancy for this home. Thank you for your communication and
