Dear Bruce,
I wanted to follow -up in writing the requirements the fire
department will have concerning the rebuilding of Pitkin House. As of
this date we have not received any plans for alarm systems or sprinkler
systems. Both of these will be required under Section 10.301 (b) of the
Uniform Fire Code. The building will need to be fully sprinkled in •
accordance with N.F.P.A. 13 D "Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One
and Two family dwellings and Mobile Homes ". Tamper and flow alarms are
to be included.
The fire alarm system shall be a Class lI Type E and be installed
in accordance with Appendix III -C of the Uniform Fire Code and N.F.P.A.
71, Installation, Maintenance, and Use of Central Station Signaling
Systems, and N.F.P.A. 72 A -E. Smoke detectors will be required in all
sleeping rooms.
We also will be working with the Garfield County. Building
Department concerning any other requirements which may surface during
construction.
Please have your contractor submit plans on the fire alarm and
sprinkler system to this office for our review. If you have any
questions, please call me at this office.
