Dear Bud:
Please be advised that we have reviewed the situation with
regard to the request by Swallow Oil Company to prepare and up-
grade their septic system at the Phillipps 66 Station on Highway
133 in Carbondale.
We have verified that the service station is, in fact, not
inside the Sanitation District's boundaries and, further, that
there are certain practical difficulties with regard to a feasible
way of serving the service station at the present time.
Therefore please take this letter as our approval for allowing
the structure to continue to utilize a septic system for waste
disposal.
As a matter of record, however, we fully concur that as many
of these problems as possible should be eliminated as quickly as
possible. It is our general policy to strongly urge the small num-
ber of businesses and residences remaining who utilize septic systems
to transfer to the public service system. We will work together with
you and the with the Sanitation District in whatever fashion is pos-
sible to alleviate the last few septic systems within the City limits.
