COLORADO 81601 2014 BLAKE AVENUE PHONE 9452339 April 2, 1982 Mr. Frances Orosz 0384 Rose Lane Carbondale, CO 81623 Dear Mr. Orosz: In inspecting the repair on your septic tank I noted no problems with the construction or assembly of the tank. I am concerned, however, about the nature of the field in use and its relation to the level of ground water in the area. If the method of final dispersal is a standard absorption trench, the system is probably in the ground water table in June. This should be of concern to you since you and your neighbors draw your drinking water from this same ground water, only at a deeper level. What I would suggest is that you drill a hole in the vicinity of your leach field at least 8 feet deep (four feet below the bottom of the trench or bed) in early June. If the water level in that hole is less than eight feet from the surface, your sewage will be affecting the ground water and an alternative form of field should be installed.
