PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In order to handle activities at Unocal's Phase I Parachute Creek
Shale Oil Project, Unocal proposes to add locker and shower
facilities at the Retort bench. These facilities would consist of
two 14 -foot wide by 66 -foot long trailers. The trailers would
contain lockers, sinks, toilets and showers, and would be used as
change rooms by Maintenance employees assigned to the Retort. These
two trailers would provide capacity for approximately 100 workers.
The trailers will be located at the Retort bench just east of the
Mine air intake fans in an area used for parking.
The sanitary sewage and the "grey water" from the sinks and showers
will be placed in separate holding tanks. Each trailer will have
its own tanks. The sanitary sewage tankage at each trailer will
have a capacity of 500 gallons and the "grey water" will have a
capacity of 1,250 gallons. The design criteria is as follows:
Sewage: 10 gal /day /person
"Grey Water ": 25 gal /day /person
35 gal /day /person
The holding tanks for the sanitary sewage will be pumped on a
regular basis and hauled to a permitted sewage treatment facility.
The "grey water" will be hauled to a permitted sewage treatment
facility or used for dust suppression on roads. Unocal is currently
permitted by the Colorado Department of Health, Water Quality
Control Division, to use "grey water" for dust suppression.
