No. 194 462 Subject: Percolation Testing, Near Existing Riding Arena, 5372 County Road 100, Garfield County, Colorado Dear Ms. Brownell: As requested by Joe Zamora, Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical performed percolation testing at the subject site on September 13, 1995. The findings of our work are presented in this report. A subsoil study for foundation excavation for the riding arena was performed and recommendations provided in a report dated October 26, 1994, Job. No 194 462. Three percolation test holes were excavated and soaked by others prior to our site visit. The percolation holes were dug with a 12 -inch diameter post hole digger to depths of 28 to 35 inches. The percolation holes were not cleaned out prior to performing the percolation tests. There was no profile hole in the percolation test area. The pits excavated as part of our previous study at the riding arena about 100 feet north of the percolation test holes showed sandy clay and silt down to the bottom of the pits, about 8 feet. No free water was observed in those pits. The results of percolation tests conducted at the site are presented in Table I. The percolation rates averaged about 40 minutes per inch. Based on our findings, the tested site is suitable for a conventional infiltration septic disposal system. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to call our office.
