The Irwin residence is located past the upper end of Sup King Drive in the Oak Meadows subdivision. The excavation indicated that the previobs system was placed on a low permeability clay and that replacing the field in the same location at the same depth would most likely lead to unsatisfactory results again. Therefore, we recommend a longer, more narrow, and shallow sand filter type system that could discharge into the more #ervious, upper, topsoil layer. The longer, more narrow configuration which would follow the bontour, would allow the spreading of effluent over a larger area, without a concentration that would be more likely to lead to surfacing or soil slipping. We understand that the eydsting residence has two bedrooms, therefore, the field will be sized for a two bedroom house. At a loading rate of 0.95 gallons per day per square foot, a top of sand/bottom of gravel aria of 474 square feet would be needed. The basal area of the sand would be larger due to the 3 (horiz.):1 (vert.) fill slope needed, and the minimum basal area required is 750 square feet. This would yield an average flow of 300 gallons per day, and a design Clow of 450 gallons per day. At a loading rate of 0.95 gallons per day per square foot, a top of sand/bottom of gravel area of 474 square feet would be needed. The basal area of the sand would be larger due to the 3 (hdriz.):l (verb) fill slope needed, and the minimum basal area required is Y 750 square feet.
