Observation of the excavation at L subject site was conducted on October 21. 1992. The findings of the worn: and recommendations are presented in this report. The proposed building will be a single story residence of masonry construction with a crawl space. A trench was cut into the strata adjacent to and norht of the building site. This trench was initially cut 3 feet deep and then deepened to 8 feet. The materials exposed at the bottom of the 3 foot trench consisted of fractured crystalline bedrock. Lithology was monolithic to the 8 foot depth. No free water was observed in the trench and the trench was dry. Considering the conditions exposed in the excavation and the nature of the proposed construction, spread footings placed on the bedrock designed for an allowable soil bearing pressure of 3000 psf should be adequate for support of the proposed dwelling. Footings should be a minimum of 16 inches wide and 2 feet for coital-as. If the excavation base is disturbed prior to foundation construction, areas of loose or soft material encountered at the foundation bearing level within the excavation should be reproved and the footing extended down to adequate natural bearing material or structural fill added. Exterior footings should b provided with adequate cover above their bearing elevations for Trost protection (36" is normal at this altitude). Section 305(d) requires the following: "There shall be a final inspection and approval of all buildings and structures when completed and ready for occupancy and use ". A final inspection can only be made and considered complete when the final grading and the structure has been inspected and is in compliance with the building code. At your request, a final inspection was made by this office. The following items are not completed: - Kitchen sink needs to be hooked up; -1 Bathroom sink needs to be hooked up; -Entry tile, approximately 6' x 8' needs to be put down; -1 Bedroom Hardwood floor needs to be put down. These items need to be completed by 5:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 1993. By this letter, we are finding that no substantial hazard will result from the occupancy of the building and will suffice as a temporary Certificate of Occupancy. Until the final grading is completed, this office cannot complete the final inspection and issue the requested Certificate of Occupancy.
