Subject: Failure to respond to previous communication from this department
dated December 7, 1994 regarding building located at 7485 County
Road 233 in Garfield County, Colorado. Copy enclosed.
Dear Mr. Dwire:
I have not had a response from you in answer to my letter referenced above
regarding the indicated project. This letter will serve to provide notice to you that
you are required to contact this department within seven (7) days of your receipt of
this letter.
The activity described in my previous letter appears to be a violation of Section 30-
28 -205 of the Colorado Revised Statutes and Section 202 of the 1988 Uniform
Building Code adopted by Garfield County. Upon conviction of a violation, this
activity is punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.00, ten (10) days in jail or both,
with each day of violation constituting a separate offense.
Your positive response within this time will stay further action by this department or
legal action by Garfield County.
I am interested in working with you in a cooperative manner to resolve this issue in
your best interest and the interest of Garfield County. I am looking forward to your
communication and cooperation on this matter.

Subject: Construction of 12' x 30' (360 sq.ft.) storage building within
unincorporated Garfield County. Enclosure.
Dear Mr. Dwire:
Garfield County records indicate that construction requiring the issuance of a
building permit by Garfield County has been completed or is in progress at the
above (unidentified) location. Building codes adopted by Garfield County require
that a permit application on a form provided by Garfield County be filed with this
department. Every application shall: (restated, whole or in part, from Chapter 3 of
the 1988 Uniform Building Code)
1. Identify and describe the work to be covered by the permit for which
application is made.
2. Describe the land on which the proposed work is to be done by legal
description, street address or similar description that will readily identify and
definitely locate the proposed building or work.
3. Indicate the use or occupancy for which the proposed work is intended.
4. Be accompanied by plans, diagrams, computations and specifications and
other data as required in Subsection (b) of this section.
(b) Plans and Specifications. Plans, engineering calculations, diagrams and
other data shall be submitted in one or more sets with each application for a
permit. The building official may require plans, computations and
specifications to be prepared and designed by and engineer or architect
licensed by the state to practice as such. Submittals shall include construction
inspection requirements as defined in Section 302(c).
Exception: The building official may wave the submission of plans,
calculations, construction inspection requirements, etc., if he finds that
the nature of the work applied for is such that reviewing of plans is not
necessary to obtain compliance with this code.
5. State the valuation of any new building or structure or any addition,
remodeling or alteration to an existing building.
6. Be signed by the permittee, or his authorized agent.
7. Give such other data and information as may be required by the building
official.
Your are requested and required to contact this office within fifteen (15) days of the
date of this letter and to provide information as follows:
(1) Provide a site plan indicating the location of the property and the location of
the building on the property. Include distances to front, rear and side
property lines.
(2) Provide construction information describing the foundation, wall framing and
roof framing of the building, including the materials used. Minimum design
load requirements for this building are required to be 40 # live load for the
roof and 80 mph wind load with appropriate exposure.
(3) Provide a complete permit application. The application currently signed by
you is not complete. (copy enclosed)
(4) Pay a permit fee of $81.00, (based on a valuation established by the building
official of $5,716.80) and investigation fee of $81.00 (as required under
Uniform Building Code Section 304 [e] Investigation fees: Work Without a
Permit).
