I understand the mobile home manufacturer wishes to widen the interior footings from the specified 8" and 12" widths to a width of 18" throughout to provide a broader base for the jack stands used to support the home modules. Widening the interior footings to the requested 18" width will result in reducing the applied loading to the underlying support soils to approximately 300 lbslsq. ft. This reduced soil loading is in excess of the 100 lbs /sq. ft. minimum load recommended in the geotechnical report for the site (Lincoln DeVore Inc., December, 1995). A width of 18" for the interior support footings associated with the foundation design is thus acceptable. Please feel free, to contact me if you have additional questions. Sincerely, = O.r ' - • .. 8• g • Seal % Apt oz, 26gtd ll i ( K<r •-• ti < l l / Thomas A .
