The recently installed OWTS on the subject property was sized to accommodate 6 bedrooms or 675
gallons per day (GPD).
This design flow was determined by the following calculation:
Design Flow = 75 GPD x 2 people/bedroom x 3 Bedrooms + [225 GPD (4th, 5th, and 6th bedrooms)] = 675

There is a desire to construct an accessory dwelling unit (ADU). The ADU will have 1-bedroom. The
main house currently has 3-bedrooms.
The OWTS was sized to accommodate 675 GPD. With a detached 1-bedroom ADU, this would allow
for 4 bedrooms in the main house. Calculations are as follows:
ADU Design Flow = 75 GPD x 2 people/bedroom x 1 bedroom = 150 GPD
Main House Design Flow = 75 GPD x 2 people/bedroom x 3 bedrooms + 75 GPD (4th bedroom) = 525
GPD
150 GPD + 525 GPD = 675 GPD
