Project No. 18-7-367.01
Subject: Update of Previous Subsoil Study, Proposed Marble Shop and Storage Buildings,
12744 Highway 82, Former "Planted Earth" Tree Nursery Lot, Garfield County,
Colorado
Dear Rick:
As requested, we are providing this update of our previous subsoil study for design of
foundations at the site. The original report was dated June 22, 2019, Project No. 18-7-367.
We understand that the currently proposed buildings consist of two, tall one-story steel -framed,
metal -skinned structures with slab -on -grade floors, totaling about 30,000 square feet in area.
The structures will be located at least 50 feet north of the existing masonry -faced MSE retaining
wall.
The subsoils encountered at the site consist of 20 to 25 feet of medium dense to medium stiff
silty clayey sand overlying relatively dense, slightly silty sandy gravel with cobbles. No
groundwater was encountered to the drilled depths of 30 feet.
The recommendations provided in our previous report can be used for design of the currently
proposed structures. Once footing sizes have been determined, we should be contacted to
provide settlement analyses for various footing sizes. As discussed in the previous report, there
is a risk of settlement of footings placed on the clay soils at this site, particularly if the bearing
soils become wet.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office.
Sincerely,
Kumar & Associates, Inc.
